BLT 3/1 REUNION 2000 - AFTER ACTION REPORT
Sent By: Bud Eckert - Reunion Coord.

Good Afternoon Marines, I would like to start out by apologizing for not getting out any coms recently. We started the school year ten portable classrooms short which created all kinds of needs for contingency planning and readjustments.

I cannot begin to express my sense of appreciation for every single individual who attended the 3/1 reunion. Thanks to former Btn. commander we had a very fitting reunion theme "We Walked With Giants". Every single person in attendance was a giant.

A number of 3/1 veterans have written regarding the possibility of getting together next year. Knowing full well that we could never replicate the incredible experience we had in August, I would be more than willing to attempt to organize a large hospitality room during the next First Marine Assoication Reunion which will be taking place in Orlando from July 3rd-8th. I just don't know how much interest there is or whether the concensus is that we should meet somewhere else at a different time.

We would like to thank everyone for all the efforts they so successful put into our San Diego reunion. The Memorial Service was incredibly appropriate. The banquet was a great way to conclude our reunion. A tally of money received verse expenses indicates that we are approximately $730 with an additional potential revenue of $400 through unit coin sales. This money will be set aside for a future reunion or for any needs which a consensus feels would be appropriate. Eventually we certainly want to set up a 3/1 Association. Ted Zoutis has kindly agreed to continue to keep a roster. Anybody who is aware of a new person coming on board should get that person in touch with Ted Zoutis for ongoing roster activities.

In closing I would like to state what a priviledge it was to have the opportunity to spend time with you during the reunion. My only regret is that with so many people, so much time and so many things going on we didn't get to visit as much as we would have liked. Oh one other point, just want to remind everyone that the Loomis Campout will be taking place in mid-February on the Central California coast. If anyone is interested in attending, please let me know.
